Jim Styer from the United States has recently joined the ColdChainExperts network. He has a background in business administration and has held top managerial positions with companies in the cold storage, distribution and food processing industry throughout the United States. Styer is a specialist in marketing assessment, implementation of key performance measures, development of strong managerial systems and processes, and (re)organizational issues. He has also been involved in cold supply chain development projects, training and trade missions in India, Bangladesh, Guatemala, Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil.

INDIAN PACKAGED FOOD SALES BOOMING
Packaged food sales in India are forecast to soar by more than two-thirds over the next four years, according to research from BMI. The analysts forecast that packaged food sales will climb over 67% to US$21.7 billion by 2012.

MAERSK BUYS LARGER REEFER VESSELS
Maersk Line has ordered larger vessels to deploy on its routes between Europe and West Africa. The large ships are equipped with reefer plugs enabling them to carry 1,700 refrigerated containers each.
VIETNAM PRODUCES AND EXPORTS MORE SEAFOOD
Vietnam is estimated to have exported over US$ 2.3 billion worth of seafood products in the first part of  2008. In July, the country produced 427,500 tonnes of seafood, 15% more than in the same month last year. In total, Vietnam produced 2.55 million tonnes of fish and fish products so far, an increase of 11.4% in comparison to the same period last year.
DELTA AIRLINES IMPROVES PERISHABLE STORAGE
Delta Air Lines has bought four coolers for its Atlanta (USA) facility to store perishables. The coolers of about 2.300m2 each will be kept at three different temperatures for storage of fresh produce.
